FAQ
Thank you for participating in our Public Dig at Macktown! To ensure you have the best experience, please review the logistics below:
Arrival: Please meet at the main picnic shelter (across from the Macktown Living History)
Education Center) by 9:00 AM.
What to Wear: We will be in a wooded area. Please wear a hat, work gloves, long pants,
and closed-toed shoes.
Recommended Items: Sunscreen, bug repellent, and a water bottle. (We have a hand pump available for refills near the site).
Forms & Waivers: All adult participants will need to sign the online consent/waiver form and an optional media photo release. Any high school students under the age of 18 will need the consent/waiver form and media release signed by their parent/guardian in order to participate in the dig.
Expert Examination: Participants are welcome to bring private collections or individual finds to the dig. Our on-site archaeologists will be happy to examine your items and offer insights.
Lunch & Breaks: The crew will take a one-hour break midday.
On-site: You may use the fridge and microwave at the shelter to store/heat a packed lunch.
Off-site: Food is available for purchase at the golf clubhouse or in downtown Rockton.
